This was taken on Tuesday after getting caught in the sudden deluge(well not that sudden this is England..lol), wet through it stopped raining as I reached my front door and the sun came out, and there it was a double rainbow…my first.
Not completely clear but you can see the secondary rainbow just above.
Info from wiki:
A rainbow is an optical and metorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines on to droplets of moisture in theEarths Atmosphere. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.
In a “primary rainbow”, the arc shows red on the outer part, and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted while entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.
In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, red facing toward the other one, in both rainbows. This second rainbow is caused by light reflecting twice inside water droplets.
I always enjoy the rainbow pictures. Seems to happen to me so rarely anymore. We’re pretty dry out here in the desert we call Missouri. Our Dept. of Ag. declared over 4,000 counties a disaster area today. We’re burning up over here.

We’ve had an extremely dry spell here in Kentucky too, although it rained today. It’s supposed to rain through the weekend but we’ll see…
As long as England has an Indian Summer in September, when I’m visiting, I’m fine with that 🙂
